UFO's, the Military & the Media
Jun. 14, 2023
Today, the topic of UFOs (or UAPs as they are now being called) have captured the interest of the media, of Congress, of academia, of NASA, and of course the military. But why? What is it about this subject that has been in the public discourse for some 75 years that caused such a resurgence in today's culture? Maybe at least a partial answer can be found in the context and history of the phenomena which will be discussed in this program. BIO: Jeff McKissack will be our presenter, covering some of the major points of consideration and context as we collectively consider what this phenomena could be as well as why it has come to the forefront of our collective consciousness in contemporary culture. Jeff has spoken to numerous clubs in the area in the past regarding his regular safety/security work, but this presentation that has now been given to numerous other clubs in the area promises to be quite literally "out of this world." ********************************** Headshot attached and here are two promo videos you can use via email or on social media to possibly attract some guests as well given the widespread interest in this topic today: |

Rotary Service

Bridget Kenworthy Bridget Kenworthy addresses world suffering through sewing, which she’s been learning since she was 5 years old. Currently she sews for two non-profit organizations: Celestial Hands and Days for Girls. Bridget has degrees in art and music education, and graduated from the Living School for Action & Contemplation in July 2023. When she’s not sewing to save the world, Bridget can be found appreciating the developing minds of her 3 kids (ages 14, 7, and 4), building her marriage, and building a backyard deck. Bridget Kenworthy requests the honor of speaking at your club's Rotary Meeting on behalf of the suffering people of Africa. During the District 5810 Annual Conference in April, 2023, Bridget accompanied the 328 menstrual health kits (which were made in her home under her supervision) that were delivered to Roatan and Cozumel school girls, which were funded by many clubs and individuals in District 5810. At your club meeting she will share pertinent information about the water crisis and the awful problem of girls dropping out of school after reaching puberty. These girls fall farther behind every month as they miss multiple days of school to sit at home on a pile of hay waiting for their menses to stop, and eventually they cannot keep up in school anymore. The power of deep, properly maintained wells installed at schools, combined with locally-made and -distributed menstrual health kits, creates a beautiful synergy - solving multiple insurmountable hurdles for the people, and meeting six of the seven causes outlined by RI. Within ten weeks of receiving funds, the well will be completed and the kits, along with a 90-minute educational presentation, will be in the hands of the local school girls. On June 19, 2023, Bridget was present at the installation of the Ataik, Uganda deep well and led the distribution of ~1000 kits in the South Sudanese refugee camp Palabek Lamwo. Bridget is available to coordinate trips to well sites combined with safaris, rhino and gorilla encounters, and local cuisine, all under the care of an exceptionally skilled local guide. Bridget can be reached at itsforafricach@gmail.com and via text or call at 435-503-4516.

Bill Dendy LOVES Rotary. He joined The Rotary Club of Dallas in 2000 and served three years on the board chairing a different Avenue of Service each year- providing the weekly Rotergram newsletter, chairing Camp Enterprise, and helping establish the club’s first Interact Club. In 2008 Bill served as District Treasurer and established the district’s evening Rotary club which grew to over 40 members and became the district’s e-club.
As District Governor in 2016-17, Bill’s district led the Rotary zone in Membership Growth; and was recognized as a top district for Public Image in the paired zones. Furthermore, Rotary Foundation giving grew with overall Foundation contributions increasing by over a million dollars. Bill attributes these successes to sharing Rotary and to that end has helped clubs create over 200 professional videos to share Rotary with Rotarians and the world. “Rotary should be uplifting and FUN,” says Bill, and his team hosted several fun and memorable events. Beginning with his governor’s installation presided over by RI President John Germ, the District saw hundreds in attendance at every major event, including the Foundation Celebration and the District Conference Cruise.
While fun and fellowship are important, Bill reminds us that, “service is the real focus.” Most district events included an element of service, and individual Rotarians and clubs that excelled in service were recognized. Even the district conference was billed as a “Service Cruise,” with five different service projects in Cozumel and Jamaica, spearheaded by clubs already familiar with the needs of those communities. In 2023, Bill organized another District Conference Service Cruise to continue the international partnership with local clubs in Roatan and Cozumel and more than 100 Texas Rotarians delivered over 10,000 pounds of books and supplies to the islanders.
Bill’s attitude of rolling up his sleeves and determination to work with the strengths of others, created great Rotary Partnerships. Bill found a charitable partner and traveled to Africa to fulfill a ten-year district goal of providing education for girls in Malawi. The scholarship project with Orant Charities continues today. Additionally, Rotarians worked with the group, Proclaim Cuba, to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Cuba.
Past roles include District Interact Chair, District International Service Coordinator, District Representative for Council on Legislation, and District Foundation Chairperson. Currently Bill is an Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator and a member of the Rotary International Audit Committee. Bill is a Foundation Major Donor and a member of the Paul Harris Society, White Hat Society, and Bequest Society. Recognitions include District Foundation Award, District Youth Service Award, District Rotarian of the Year, and in 2020, Bill received Rotary International’s highest honor, the Service Above Self Award. Professionally, Bill is an Attorney, CPA and Certified Financial Planner. For fun, Bill enjoys travel-especially Rotary Travel- and SCUBA. He is a member of American Mensa and is an instrument rated, multi-engine, private pilot. His wife, Lisa, is an attorney and committed Rotarian. |
